OFF THE COAST OF SURINAME
MARITIME RESTRICTED AREA
Effective November 1, 2026, a Maritime Restricted Area (MRA) is established within Block 58, offshore Suriname, in connection with the planned offshore oil and gas operations of TotalEnergies EP Suriname B.V, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, 1982.
The MRA comprises the following three zones:
Zone 1 – Permanent Safety Zone
A safety zone with a radius of five hundred meters (500m) is established around the projected Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility, centered on the coordinates indicated in Table1.
Unauthorized vessels are prohibited from entering or remaining within this zone.

Zone 2 – Subsea Asset Protection Area
A Subsea Asset protection area is established with a radius of two nautical miles (2 NM) around the projected FPSO with the coordinates listed in Table 1 and five hundred metres (500 m) around subsea infrastructure and installations with the positions listed in Table 2. Navigation within these areas is prohibited to all vessels except those involved in offshore oilfield operations. Anchoring, trawling and dredging are also prohibited within these areas.

Zone 3 – Precautionary area
A pipeline protection corridor is established to safeguard the subsea pipelines and the planned fiber-optic cable. The corridor is bounded by the coordinates indicated in Table 3.
The following restrictions apply within this corridor:
- vessels are strictly prohibited from dropping anchor within this zone ;
- industrial fishing, such as trawlers using heavy otter boards and nets that drag along the seabed, is completely banned; and
- vessels of all states are permitted to navigate through this area, provided they maintain a minimum speed, do not drift and keep their anchors securely stowed on board.
