The activities of this subdepartment are as follows:

• Investigation of incidents on the inland waterways such as:
  –     collisions
  –    damage of fishing nets
  –    oil spills
  –    stranded vessels
  –    sinking of vessels
• Drawing up of conclusion reports and official report
• Regular inspection on the river (boats, piers, buoys, bridges)
• Regular inspection on ferry routes
• Processing of license applications in cooperation with the department of Hydrography (recommendations to the District Commissioner or Port Master)
• Handling incoming requests for authorization of navigators for ferries

Performing ISPS activities such as:

• collecting and inspecting pre-arrival information with regard to approval for ships to put in at our port;
• evaluating “assessments” and security plans of port facilities;
• conducting audits of the port facilities;
• conducting ISPS inspections onboard ships.
