ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE SHIPPING TRAFFIC

SURINAME RIVER, DIJKVELDBANK
DREDGING ACTIVITIES VABI PORT FACILITY

On the 20th and 21st of May 2021 dredging activities will take place alongside the left bank of the Suriname River at the “Vabi Port Facility” by the dredging vessel ELBE.

The working area is indicated by the following coordinates in WGS 84:
        Latitude       Longitude
A  05° 46’.516 N  055° 09’.183 W
B  05° 46’.433 N  055° 09’.050 W

Dredging will be done by the Trailing Suction Hopper Elbe, which will suck the dredged material from the river bottom. The dredged material will be dumped on the western side of the entrance of the Suriname River outside the navigation channel.

The operations will take place around the clock (24 hours). The dredging vessel ELBE will be restricted in maneuverability during dredging.

Communication is through VHF channel 12.

All ships should take notice of the above mentioned.
