ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE SHIPPING TRAFFIC
SURINAME RIVER
SHIP AGROUND
In the entrance of the Suriname River near buoy S6A the vessel SALAMINA I has run aground on position 5°59.395’N and 55° 12.976 W.
The fairway near the ship is currently obstructed and passage is not possible in the area mentioned above.
In the above-mentioned area the depth on the west side of the fairway is two and a half (2.5) meters at low water. Ships and crafts with less draught can pass on the west side at fifty (50) meters up to one hundred (100) meters from the vessel SALAMINA I and take in to account the tidal height at time of passage and an under-keel clearance of 0.30 meters.
For safety reasons, all ships should approach the area with caution, reduce speed and keep a clear distance of fifty (50) meters from the SALAMINA I.
